Graklink Comparison
Graklink vs QRCodeChimp
Updated July 24, 2026
Graklink vs QRCodeChimp: which should you use?
Choose QRCodeChimp if you want a broad platform with digital business cards, forms, and landing pages, and a monthly bill fits how you work. Choose Graklink if you are about to print something and you want the shortest possible list of things that can switch the code off later.
Both are honest products. This one is not a story about a vendor behaving badly, and if you came looking for that, QRCodeChimp is the wrong target. It is a story about two different models, and about what the word “paused” means when the code is already on the invitation.
How much does each cost?
QRCodeChimp runs a free tier and three paid ones. Verified on their pricing page on 24 July 2026, in the US dollar view:
| Plan | Yearly cost | Dynamic codes | Scans per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 10 | 1,000 total |
| Starter | $83.88 ($6.99/mo billed yearly) | 50 | 10,000 |
| Pro | $167.88 ($13.99/mo billed yearly) | 300 | 150,000 |
| Ultima | $419.88 ($34.99/mo billed yearly) | 900 | Unlimited |
Static codes are unlimited and free on every tier, including the free one.
Graklink is a one-time $7.99 for a dynamic code. There is no monthly plan on the code, no scan ceiling, and nothing that renews. Free static codes cost nothing here too.
What actually happens to a QRCodeChimp code?
Two different things, and it is worth separating them, because most articles about this category blur them into one scary sentence.
If your plan lapses, your account drops to the free plan and your dynamic codes beyond the free allowance of 10 are paused. Their own words: “They are not deleted. The codes, their destinations, and their scan history are all still there. Upgrade and they reactivate.” That is genuinely more careful than most of this industry, and they deserve credit for both the behavior and for documenting it plainly.
If you run out of scans, the code pauses until the month resets. On the free plan that ceiling is 1,000 scans a month, shared across every dynamic code in the account rather than counted per code.
Neither of those destroys anything. Both of them stop the redirect.
So what is the actual problem with a pause?
A paused code and a dead code look identical to the person holding the phone.
That is the whole of it. The distinction between “deleted” and “paused” is a real and meaningful distinction to you, sitting in the dashboard, where one is recoverable and the other is not. It is not a distinction that exists for the guest at the table, the customer in the aisle, or the person who just scanned the flyer in the window. They point a camera at your printed code, something fails to load, and they put the phone back in their pocket. You will never hear about it.
So the reversibility is worth less than it sounds on a printed code, because you usually cannot see the failure and the scanner never tries twice.
When would a wedding invitation or a menu actually hit 1,000 scans?
Sooner than people expect, because the cap is shared.
A hundred and fifty wedding guests scanning an invitation two or three times each will put a few hundred scans through one code. That is fine on its own. But the free plan’s 1,000 is the total for every dynamic code on the account, so the registry code, the photo-gallery code, and the RSVP code all draw from the same pot. A single code that outperforms expectations spends the month’s allowance and pauses the others with it.
QRCodeChimp is straightforward about the fix, and their own guide names it: “On Ultima and higher plans, scans are unlimited. There is no monthly cap, so this pause can’t happen. If your codes are on packaging, retail displays, or anything where scan volume is unpredictable and a pause would be expensive, that’s the reason to be on one of those plans.”
That is honest advice, and it is also the price of it. Ultima is $419.88 a year. The version of a printed code that structurally cannot pause on scan volume costs about four hundred dollars a year on this model.
A Graklink code has no scan ceiling at any price. There is no plan on it to move up.
What does QRCodeChimp do better?
A fair amount, and pretending otherwise would be silly.
It is a much wider product than ours is today. Digital business cards with wallet support, landing pages, forms with response limits and alerts, event ticket validation, pet ID tags, folders, sub-accounts, bulk upload on higher tiers, and a genuinely deep design toolkit including 3D codes and pre-made styles. The free tier gives you 10 dynamic codes, which is more generous than nearly everyone.
And their documentation is better than the category norm. The page where they explain what happens to your codes is clear, specific, and does not hide the pause behavior in a terms-of-service basement. We read a lot of competitor documentation around here. Most of it is worse than this.
That is a real gap and we are not going to talk our way around it. If you need the forms, the ticketing, and the sub-accounts, they have those and we do not. Compare what each of us actually ships today, not what anyone says is coming.
What is worth separating is which part of that gap affects the code on your poster. The platform features are things you use in the dashboard. The durability of the redirect is the thing the printed code depends on, and that one does not improve with a longer feature list.
What does it cost over five years?
For a single printed code that you need to keep working, held for five years:
| Year 1 | Year 5 total | |
|---|---|---|
| Graklink | $7.99 | $7.99 |
| QRCodeChimp Starter | $83.88 | $419.40 |
| QRCodeChimp Ultima (no scan cap) | $419.88 | $2,099.40 |
The free tier is $0 across all five years, as long as you stay inside 10 codes and 1,000 scans a month, every month, for five years, and the account stays open. That last row is not a trick. It is a real option and it might be the right one for you. It just requires nothing about your situation to change for five years.
When to pick which
Pick QRCodeChimp if you want the platform: business cards, forms, ticketing, sub-accounts, and a design suite. If your scan volume is low and predictable and 10 codes is plenty, the free tier is a legitimately good deal and we are not going to pretend it isn’t.
Pick Graklink if the code is going on something you cannot cheaply reprint, and you would rather the list of things that can stop it be as short as possible. Ours is two items long: an acceptable-use violation like phishing or fraud, or you deleting your own account. A billing event is not on the list, and neither is a busy month.

Common questions
Do QRCodeChimp codes stop working if you stop paying?
They pause rather than disappear, which is fairer than most of this category. QRCodeChimp's own documentation says that when a paid plan is not renewed the account drops to the free plan and dynamic codes beyond the free allowance of 10 are paused, not deleted, and they reactivate if you upgrade. The catch is what a pause means to the person holding the phone: a paused code does not redirect. It is reversible for you and indistinguishable from broken for them.
What is QRCodeChimp's scan limit?
On the free plan it is 1,000 scans per month, and that is a shared total across all of your dynamic codes, not per code. QRCodeChimp's own FAQ says that once you hit it, scans are paused until the next month. Paid plans raise the ceiling to 10,000 on Starter and 150,000 on Pro. Scans are only unlimited on Ultima, which is $34.99 a month billed yearly, about $419.88 a year.
Is QRCodeChimp free plan good enough for a printed code?
For something low-traffic, it genuinely might be. You get 10 dynamic codes and unlimited static codes for nothing. The thing to check before you print is the 1,000-scans-a-month shared ceiling, because a single code that does better than you expected can spend the whole month's allowance and pause every other code in the account with it.
What does QRCodeChimp do better than Graklink?
Quite a lot today. QRCodeChimp is a broader product than ours: digital business cards, landing pages, forms with response tracking, event ticket validation, pet ID tags, folders, sub-accounts, and design options including 3D and pre-designed codes. Its free tier hands you 10 dynamic codes, which is more generous than most. And its documentation is unusually clear about what happens to your codes, which is rarer in this category than it should be. Compare what each of us ships today rather than what anyone says is coming.
Which should you choose?
Choose QRCodeChimp if you want the wider platform and the monthly bill suits you, or if you need the free tier's 10 codes and your scan volume is comfortably under the cap. Choose Graklink if the code is going on something printed and you want the simplest possible guarantee: paid once, no scan ceiling, no plan to lapse, nothing to reactivate.

Once you reach the 1000 scans limit for a month, scans are paused, but they reopen next month for another 1000 scans.' On lapse: 'If you are a paid user, the dynamic QR codes given in your plan will remain active till you recharge the plan regularly. Otherwise, your account will be moved to a free plan, and the dynamic codes other than the last 10 will be paused.'

IMPORTANT correction made at sourcing: the '30 days and permanently removed' rule on this page applies to codes DELETED into Trash, not to codes paused by a lapsed plan. Do not conflate the two.
